We’re only a few days into the summer of 2012 and thousands of residents throughout the Western United States are facing the reality of wildfires. The High Park fire in Northern Colorado has already destroyed more than 248 homes. What are a few simple steps you can take to protect your home and property from a wildfire?
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1) Move furniture away from windows and glass doors
2) Open drapes to keep them from catching on fire from radiant heat
3) Have your home sprayed with fire resistant foam
4) Clear the brush and trim trees on your property. How far should it be kept away? At least 100 feet from your home.
